Seinfeld Announces NYC Tour
JERRY SEINFELD BACK ON THURSDAY NIGHTS THIS FALL

For the first time in 14 years, Jerry Seinfeld is presenting full performances of his signature stand-up comedy in New York City. Seinfeld will perform five stand-up shows – one in each New York City borough – on five Thursday nights this Fall.
Seinfeld, a New York native, got his start as a comedian in the City in the 1970s, but other than appearing at benefits and occasional short sets at local comedy clubs, he has not performed a full show in a NYC theater since his sold-out Broadway engagement, “I’m Telling You For The Last Time,” at the Broadhurst Theater in 1998, shortly after the final episode of his iconic TV show, Seinfeld.
" I was born in Brooklyn, went to school in Queens and started out as a comedian in Manhattan. I feel like New York City taught me how to be funny. I'm so excited to perform a special series of shows for my beloved home town," said Seinfeld.
Seinfeld’s five-borough performances will all fall on Thursday nights – the same as the television show that bore his name – and will feature special guest Colin Quinn, who Seinfeld directed in the hit Broadway show “Colin Quinn: Long Story Short” at the Helen Hayes Theater in 2010-11.
Tickets for all five-borough shows go on sale to the general public on Monday, July 30 at 10 am. All performances begin at 8pm.

New Comedy Festivals Stand-Up Comics Wanted
SHE-DEVIL COMEDY FESTIVAL - NY
The She-Devil Comedy Festival will be taking place October 24-28 in Long Island City and Manhattan. The festival seeks to honor and reward the artists that most personify The Art of Comedy, while celebrating and helping further the long tradition of women in comedy.
The She-Devil Festival is combination competition/celebrity headliner event centered at the Laughing Devil in Long Island City with additional shows at Broadway Comedy Club, Gotham Comedy Club, and more. Created by the same people behind Laughing Skull and Laughing Devil festivals, the festival will also feature a private roof party, an art gallery party, museum tours, industry panels, and more events to be announced. The festival will be raising money for FORCE, a charity that educates women about cancer.
The winner gets at least $2000 (the prize package is growing as sponsors are added) and paid work from various clubs - and the judges are all decision makers in the industry. The audiences will be filled with agents, managers, bookers, casting directors and more. At the Laughing Devil festival, all three Letterman bookers attended the finals. More than three dozen bookers and agents have already agreed to participate.
The festival is another step in the Laughing Devil putting Queens on the comedy map. Regulars at the club already include Judah Friedlander, Todd Barry, Ted Alexandro and more. Last week, the Daily Show's Kristen Schaal made her first appearance to a sold out crowd. The Laughing Devil Festival (held last month) sold out every show.

VENTURA COMEDY FESTIVAL - CA
We are looking for a wide range of comedians to participate in the 2012 Ventura Comedy Festival. Comedians will be compensated with valuable exposure, an opportunity to perform among comedy legends, and a wonderful chance to network!
Comedians have the chance to enter Ventura’s Funniest Person Comedy Competition during the festival. Preliminary rounds are the first four Sundays in September at the Ventura Harbor Comedy Club, 7pm. Judges choose comedians from each preliminary round to send a total of 36 people to the three semi-final rounds held during the festival. Judges will choose the three best comedians from each of semi-final contests and one judge’s pick (ten total) to send to the Sunday final contest. Ventura’s Funniest Person will receive a cash prize, and comedy bookings at the Ventura Harbor Comedy Club, J.R.’s Comedy Club, and Headliners Comedy Club at Fiamme in Thousand Oaks.

Tips to Stand-Up
Comic Bible Tips to Stand-UP Part 1: Way Before the Stage
You think you’re funny; people tell you that you are funny, but how does one go from telling jokes at family parties and take it to the stage?
For many, performing -show business in general- seems daunting, and exclusively for the chosen few.
Well, those few started the same way, with desire and a goal.
To get you off out of the living room and headed toward to the stage, Comic Bible Magazine has a series of tips, beginning with this; Part 1: Way Before the Stage.
Desire.
Decide if this is something you really want to do for a living. If you merely want to have fun, find an open mic, bring your friends and family, tell your jokes and have a good time. If you are serious about comedy as a career, that career stars with a deep desire to make people laugh and to be on stage. Think about where that path might lead you. If it is your goal to be a comedic star in movies or on television through stand-up comedy, know the statistics. Very few make it to level of stardom that Ellen DeGeneris, Will Ferrell or Tina Fey have. But, be assured that most who start out in stand-up comedy and work hard towards their goal, do make a successful living at it, in other aspects of the entertainment business and as touring comedians.
Learn.
With that ‘want’ and your goal in place, next, learn. Watch comedy stars, scrutinize their timing, their delivery, their jokes. Read interviews with and books written by successful comedians. Learn the history of comedy, know who the greats were and how they became ‘great’. Read about the business of comedy and the entertainment industry online and in periodicals such as BackStage, Variety, Holllywood Reporter and The Comic Bible. Keep up with current trends in entertainment in all mediums. Know who the players are, and what is happening in the industry you want to be involved in.
Dispel the myth, “There are no rules in comedy.”
Comedy isn’t anarchy, it’s a business, and like any other business there are rules.
There may be what seems like ‘no rules’ for major players –in any business. However, when getting to that level of stardom, there are rules. Not in forming your own joke style, or material, but most venues with stages and the people who book them have rules. If you want to earn respect -unless you are morally obligated to bend one, have respect for others rules.
Comedy is a Business and you want a job. Like any other job, you have to do the work.
While keeping your desire to be a comedian in place, consistently learning about the comedy and entertainment business and respecting the business aspect of stand-up comedy, work on your comedy material and your presence on stage.
Discover You
You wanted to be a comedian because you believe you are funny. Anyone can tell a joke, and a funny line will always make people laugh. Why do people laugh at yours? What about you and your personality makes people laugh at your jokes?
Break that down. Take away the jokes and find your personality. That, your persona will be the core of every joke you write and tell, and that, your personality, is what will make you stand out as a stand-up comedian.
