Earlier this summer, Klondike (@Klondikebar) invited Twitter users nationwide to participate in the first-ever Klondike Comedy Showcase, a joke writing competition hosted on Twitter by stand-up comedian/ Twitter phenom Rob Delaney (@robdelaney). After 11 hilarious weeks and nearly 10,000 entries, Pauly Casillas (@PaulyPeligroso) has been named champion.
Casillas won the Week 5 joke category, “Worst Pick-Up Lines,” to achieve finalist status and go head-to-head with the nine other weekly finalists from across the nation. It was Casillas’ joke in the final round – ”What would you do for a Klondike bar?” – where he claimed his title as the Klondike king of 140-character comedy. Though not a comedy pro quite yet, Casillas is well on his way to making a name for himself as an established comedian. Well known in the online comedy space with nearly 90,000 Twitter followers, Casillas also performs stand-up comedy, taking the stage to hone his skills as often as he can.
As part of the grand-prize package, Casillas will receive an all-expense-paid VIP trip to the New York Comedy Festival in November, where he’ll get to hang out with Rob Delaney, who will be performing at the Festival. Delaney’s show starts at 7:30 p.m. EST on Monday, Nov. 12 at the NYU Skirball Center in lower Manhattan.
